Smoke can travel through cracks, so yes smoke could still go through the barrel, I don't know where you got the idea that a gun is air tight inside.

did you see the amount of smoke coming through? i could understand that if it was a rifled barrel, but it isnt, as those werent issued then because the soldiers only used shot not rifled slugs. you fuck.

Wow. this is a really long thread now. I couldn't read pas the first few pages, but here's my 2 cents. The gun wasn't loaded. the pipe was jammed into the chamber = no shell. in a normal situation, this would be dumb, but fuck it. it was vietnam. Chances are those guys are either dead or suffering some horrible shit from agent orange. Looked fun to me. Might be worth trying with a piece of pvc pipe.
