SCROG info

Hello , I am new to this forum,i was looking for info on a scrog and reading some of the posts on here i decided to join,i have grown once before many, many moons ago,so in last i year have been putting together some stuff, so i started my grow 11 days ago, i germed 1 afgahni and 1white russian in fox farm soil, they are under 2x 200 watt full blue cfls,i will be keeping them there for21 days and then topping them and training them for another 2 weeks under a 600 watt mh, would they benefit from this or not? .Then if they are female i will be putting a screen over the one or both of them for flower,under a 600 watt or maybe a 1000 watt hps ,if i get it in time.
So if anytone can help me out with this as im not knowledgable on this scrog so any help will be welcome,Thank you , i will post some pics tomorrow when camera comes back.

I personally dont like scrog cuz you cant move your plants around. Optimal light is optimal growth. Just my two cents.

hello ghostsurfer i was just reading your signature and that is kind of crazy. shit 50 gallons shit i would be happy if i get 2 tablespoons. fox farm is a good soil to use with the nutes as well. i will keep an eye out on the scrog as i see your trying to do it.

If you use a smaller screen, one screen per plant, and attach it to the pot, you can ScroG and still retain the ability to move your plants around individually. All it takes is a pair of wire cutters, some clothes hangars, and some duct tape.

What works good for screens are those wire basket clothes organizers they sell at Home Depot. You can clip one of those down to one large screen (~2 square feet) or two smaller ones (~1 square foot each). They make very sturdy screens which require no additional support and can be bent if you need to bend them.

SOG - (Sea of green) method is a technique of growing that is intended on growing small single cola plants in a small area. There is an art to growing SOG and most people on their first few attempts have problems. Mold, damping off, and wilt from lack of light and airflow are just a few. 6" center to center is minimum space needed for air circulation. Any less you need a custom airflow system to keep air moving between the plants. This is one technique that you can trim leaves. You need to keep the temperature down to keep the leaves from getting too big. Trim the ends when they show sign of yellowing and they will. The plant does not reach an age during the vegetation cycle to mature properly. The stocks are thinner and not as strong as they would be normally if grown to full potential for the vegetation cycle. Thinner stocks limit the plants uptake of nutrients so precise nutrient control, Ph monitoring, good light penetration and airflow are most critical with this technique.
(Fluorescent lights are not very good with this technique they lack the light penetration needed to get through the dense foliage.)

The idea is to grow one plant short no bigger then 14" to 18" tall and have a single cola. You only harvest 3/4 to 1 oz of dry bud from each plant. You grow many, many plants all together and the total bud count is proportional to the number you are growing.

Example:
50 plants have the ability to yield 37.5 oz to 50.0 oz of dry buds. That translates to over 2-3 pounds of dry bud with just 3/4 oz to 1 oz from each plant.

That's why a lot of people try this technique of growing.
It's all in the math.
