Net pot problem...
Ok, maybe it's My problem and not the net pots, but its still a problem!
I use net pots in the vegging as well as flowering. As a media I use a combination of vermiculite and perlite. I know, I know I should use the proper media, either those round marbles or rockwool. Well I don't like using either one of them. I like vermiculite and perlite. The problem is the holes in the netpots -- they are just too big 1/2" x 1/2" just lets too much of my junk out of the net and into my nutes which can plug up my pumps etc.
Who sells net pots (6") where the holes are not so big? Or any suggestions?

mmm, If I was to put a coffee filter in there and then the vermiculite and perlite mix, would the roots go thru the paper? I wouldn't want anything that will stop the roots from coming out, just the media! I may try cocofibre and see how that works..

Problem with that idea is the small screen will get clogged and your plants can get root bound. There is nothing wrong with growrocks or lava rock dude if you want to grow hydro then do it the right way or you may not get any harvest.
You are using additives as a grow medium and that is very hard to do but you figured that out already.
You may want to finish them off in a dirt mix then but it's up to you.

on the bottom and sides. (Walmart)
Or you could line them with nylon insect screen. (Lowes)
Or you could go to styrofoam cups, made holey with a nail. (probably the kitchen)

I have never tryed coffee filters it was a brain storm that is a couple of days old. I did speak with worms way in regards to the capillary mat and they said the roots have no problems growing thru it and it is almost a quarter inch thick. I was like is it kind of like a coffee filter in regards to the material and he told me it was so I wish I could tell you I have tryed it, but I cant. You could be the first if you are down for an experiment. I saw some one use a nylon in one of these threads and the roots did not seem to have a problem growing thru it. It hung off a bit so I would only assume the air inside would be constantly humid.

Ok, I will try it. So today, seeing I don't have coffee filters in the house, took a sheet from a roll of papertowels and lined it inside the pot I will see if the plant grows thru the paper!
Thanks![align=center]Life is great but expensive. You can have it less expensive...... but then it\'s not so great.

Hey G.B.
You've probably already figured out the problem, but if you haven't.do what I do.I root in soil, then put in netcup with a fiber pot the correct size inside netpot.Roots grow right through it, and it keeps ALL the dirt out.Worked with aero misters spraying on them.
