Most soldiers that go off to war, don't really understand why they are doing it, and its usually the ideologies of patriotism (forward as ONE, America needs YOU) that have been drummed in to there skull by the big chief (the one that says the inspirational quote or two like 'Hey lads lets go fight em ay???!!! YEEEEEEH!!!! and then sips his cognac, while skimmin over the honour roll) from an early age, so that the short and sweet gimmics, will always envoke a sense of pride and honour in the minds eye. Words that point to no real meaning, but that the general consensus (the fuckers who have no idea what war is like, or why it is necessary) agree is generally for the right thing, most of the time lol. Then the solidier actually gets out on to the battlefield, realizes that this shit is REALLY happening (imagine ACTUALLY bein shot at left right and centre, ACTUALLY seein ppl's heads get blown off, many of whom you had shared ure breakfast with, in full real time, and knowing you are moments away from bein extinguished, every single passing moment), and they realize that its not honourable at all (in the sense they had believed, that you would somehow be immortalized by fightin the 'just' cause), but pure unadulterated carnage. The ppl who have led them to this fate have to withhold information from them, for there own 'safety', so what exactly is the justness of the cause remains to be seen until 75yrs or so later when the info is released, when no1 givs two shits about it, and the surviving veterans are shoved in to council flats by the 'GREAT' land that they fought for, because the bills begin to slip in there old age. I haven't got a clue what the name, age or hometown of a SINGLE soldier was (from any of the wars in the past century or 2), but I kno Churchill, the old alcoholic, or the general that instructed his troops to WALK toward the enemy line, under the logic 'If it doesn't work when we run......maybe....jus maybe......' all for the good of the country, and they toddled off due to the virtues of 'duty' and 'honour' 'pride' 'respect'.......oh no but wait......the bullets weren't tricked in to believing they were havin a leisurely stroll in the midst of warfare, and they were mowed down.....millions of em....the masterminds simply went back to the drawin board and crossed another strategy off the list

I hear you gasp! well you see if you did that, your OWN general would then lean you up against a wall, and shoot you in the head. So yeh if you think standing and saying words that you've said a million times since birth, while you daydream about things that are concerning you at the moment (however trivial they are in comparison, they're still a big deal to u), is any consellation to the soldiers who were mowed down, not for the country, but for the leaders, then ye continue.....but don't make the mistake of thinking it means something.
I don't giv a fuck if you stand or not, put ure hand over ure left testicle and cough, or whatever we're doin nowadays to proclaim our undyin respect/love/admiration for our 'country'......but to have the audacity to even imply you're doing ure part, or paying any debts you believe you have to those poor fuckers, and sharing the load of what they went through, by performing random acts of recitement, is more disrespectful than sleeping through the whole pledge of allegiance
