changing lighting cycle on/off time
Zandor- Clarks Book? As the seasons progress the length of night becomes longer. During the dark period plants produce hormones. The hormones steadily increase every night as do the night lengths. Once the hormones reach that magic level meiosis begins and the plant begins to produce spores (sex organs). It has to do with the night getting longer and not the days getting shorter. The axis of the earth also produces a slighty different light spectrum which is why there is more red light during a morning sunrise in autumn. Also has to do with the harvest moon usually orange in color around October. Regardless doubling the length of dark will increase the hormone levels in the plant to levels that they are not used to getting causing alot of stress on the biochemistry of the plant wether you can see it or not. Increasing the length of light will use up the hormones which happens every day during the light period but after they are gone no further biochemical changes take place and at the start of the next night the process begins again without the excess hormonal build up creating less stress. Either way it is done you may not run into any problems like Zandor said, but there is less stress to the plant to give 24 hours light as apposed to dark. If you regenerate it you may wish to cause the least amount of stress, but because the plant will be dead in a couple months you may want to save a dollar on the electrical bill, unless you plan on regenerating some ladies to produce stouter clones of the genetics.
One love
