The reason why, is simply root tangle.

Think of 2 people drinking out of the same glass of water, sure you can give them more water but in the end it's less efficient. Not only that, but they won't be able to take in equal amounts of water as well as if one of the roots has a problem, that problem might be harder to take care of.
Not to mention transplanting, transplanting 2 plants from the same pot into seperate pots would be almost impossible without tearing the root system to pieces. It's possible, but difficult.

Marijuana seeds put down a 10 to 12-inch root in only 30 days, compared to the one-inch root put down by the rye or barley grass.
The roots penetrate up to 6 feet deep, pulverizing the soil and making it arable.

If anything, I bet the dead root system of the sister plant would make the earth nice and liveable if you mulched it in.
(this is what farmers of cannabis fields used to purposefully do)

The Grim Reefer Reviewed by The Grim Reefer on . 2 plants, 1 pot.. ?!?!?!?!!! ok.. rumor has it, 2 plants in 1 pot may cause the roots to tangle and strangle eachother, one plant might kill the other.. or if u try to kill one, u'll kill the other as wel.. is somethin of a symbiotic relationship when they're put in the same pot?? not that i'm wanting to do that, but i want to add a different plant to the pot.. somethin similar to that growing near a berry bush or so..
