    Grow room setup

I??m trying to help a buddy out. He has a basement but he doesn??t want this out of control. The system he is going with is Water Farm Controller Kit - Drip System. There will be eight plants. He will only have them in the flowering stage. The questions I have are will 1 x 1000w HPS be enough? What will it take to keep this space cool? Will moving plants in a car for no more than an hour have a bad effect? What will be the best way to separate an area off to hide it from noisy eyes and how to keep the smell down from noisy noses?

As always thanks for any help

Alright. I have a lot of free time on my hands, so let's go.

1.) HPS's are great for flowering, you might want to look into another light for vegetative though. Especially because they will need seperate hours. Fluorescents WILL work, but if you're going for quality and have the money, go for a high-powered metal halide light.

2.) There are many different methods to keep the area cool. You will want to have at least one oscillating fan on the plants as it is, to keep the stems strong. However, someone also made a post on this site regarding building your own cooltube for the light, which is exactly what I'll be doing shortly.
This will allow you to get your lights closer to the plants. You could always buy a cooltube, but it would be more expensive and, hey, where's the fun in that?

3.) As for the car idea, I'm almost positive it will cause some harm to your plants. There are many things that could happen. Light leaks could cause a delay in flowering, your plants may go though some sort of a shock, etc.

4.) As for your problem of noisy eyes, I have never heard an eye make any sound, so I'm not sure how to help you. Just kidding. If you're talking about parents, the general rule is not to grow in your parent's house. If the police find your plants, the house could get taken away from them, and you may be removed from your parents. If it's a roommate-ish situation, keep a lock on the door. Do NOT tell them about the grow. Think of it this way, the more people who know, the more people who can bust your ass.

5.) There are many commercial products that will reduce the smell. I believe there is a debate over whether or not ionizers or o-zone generators can cause harm to your plants. Plus, it can't be guaranteed that this will eliminate the entire smell.

Good luck with your plants, and if anything I put in here is wrong or could be said in a better light, I would ask one of the more experienced growers to please do so, so we can all learn.

Ok after doing some much needed reading, here is the layout in a different way. The corner area is 5?? x 8?? x 8??. All we want out of this is 8 good ones for us to enjoy. There will be 8 10? square pots hooked to a controller. To split the work and the area even know it might be a bad idea. I will clone and veg at my house. This room will be for flowering only 12/12 on a timer. To vent one line in from out side some how and one going to a carbon filter. I am hoping 148 cfm fan would handle the in and a duct booster could handle the out since I already have one. I will make sure they are moved when they should be in light. My plan is a single 1000w super sun with Solar Max Bulb on a hanger so we can move the light a s close as possible and just raise it maybe once a week. Also we only want to have to mess with it maybe once a week because we both work allot of hours. The walls will have Mylar. Not sure yet how to build the last wall but we will work that out. We are thinking of White willow for the strain because it good and that??s what I can already get clones of. Does this seem like a realistic plan? Any one has any other tips or comments that might help me out?
    THANKS ALLOT

Ive never heard of white willow (doesnt mean it doesnt exist), do u mean white widow? nice plan, how are you transporting the plants? Ive read that it is actually better if you have 2 fans, to use them both for outake of air instead of active intake, dont know if its true but you could check. when are you planning to induce flowering

Yes it??s White Widow. I planed on just driving them up the street. Well this is all just still a plan so I was thinking once they are 1.5 to 2 feet tall. Hopefully that will be enough for us.

sounds good, I grew some white widow, not on a grow as large as yours but trust me it is strong. youll get more with 2 feet seeing as 1000 watts have great penetration, o by the way wha ferts are you using

I was thinking about the ionic grow, bloom, and boost. Now I have to ask is eight plants allot for two guys who have a pretty healthy appetite? I figured we would see some happiness about every 2.5 to 3 months. We don??t want to go big we just don??t want to run out. I have know idea what 8 plants would yield. I read different things here.
