Marijuana & Heart Attacks

I've read that the first thirty minutes after smoking weed, your chance for having a heart attack quadruples. Does anyone know if this is true? I've never heard of anyone dying from smoking marijuana, and I've never heard of anyone having a heart attack after smoking it, either. I know it raises blood pressure, but can it actually cause a heart attack?

sounds like BS to me, but It could be true . . .I guess?

It's because you're blood pressure can go up when you smoke. Unless you have a heart problem, keep on tokin'.

Yeah, I read something similar a few days ago. I get anxiety pretty bad sometimes, and when I read about the heart attack thing, it concerned me. Couldn't tell you if I have heart problems, but I've had 'panic' attacks that scared me so bad, I went to the hospital. (Thought I was having a heart attack)

It sucks being middle aged . . .

I'm still going to smoke, though. Life just wouldn't be the same w/o my sweet Mary Jane!

when i started, i'd get anxiety attacks if it was too cold, and i still do, but almost never, even in the cold. since i know what's going on, i dont freak out, and stay calm, so that at worst, all i get is tttreremorrrrrsssssss... lol

as for heart attacks, i sincerely doubt that even if your blood pressure DID go up, unless you had heart problems, you wouldnt have any problems at all.

According to the study that vanzant linked, it can cause heart disease, which kinda makes sense. We know that cigs are linked to heart disease also . . . It probably has something to do with the tar & stuff in the smoke.


You would more than likely be fine if you used a vaporizor, though?

I'm hoping the same, but still get worried when anxiety comes on, lol! It's a b!tch, and now I know about the whole heart attack angle which makes it worse!

Luckly, I don't think I got TOO much to worry about. I'm at least active to a normal extent and i'm only 17. 155lbs and 6'1, but when my heart starts beatin so fast I feel like I should be running or something its a little odd to say the least. So how dangerous is it to have sex in the first hour? Wouldn't that like quadruple X 2 the chances?
