lets see where this gets me

well, ghosttoker, I see what you mean...I personally can't think of a single person that I know personally, who is off 'fighting the "so-called {good fight}"' (sorry, lots of stuff in quotations there)...but I'm not ragging on Saddam in particular, he was just the first name to come to mind; also, I was sober when I started this thread. this post is pretty damn drunk.

as to SomeDude, I dunno if I believe that a single injection (electric chair, gas chamber, what have you...canada don't have death penalties, so I have to rely on 'movie knowledge' for this) costs more than 25 years (canada life sentence) of appeals? but the shadow of a doubt thing I definately agree with. grade 12 law class taught me well about THAT subject.

and death penalties are really for the victims...by the time the trials and the appeals and all the court BS is over, personally, I would be glad for death.

but then again, I get bored pretty easy, that's why I'm not a lawyer officially.

the death penalty, for me, is a tricky subject. I hate it. like i said before, i dont want anyone dead. but then after saying that i see the news or read a newspaper, and see people getting murdered, kids getting kidnapped, tortured, raped, killed.. i see the sickest people on this earth getting protected and defended because of their "human rights" when they violate their victims rights in the most disgusting and inhumane ways possible.. i dunno what i think... i hate the death penalty, but sometimes, i guess, death is the only punishment worthy of some of these people... and i suppose, if some sick fuck had just killed someone in my family, i want the motherfucker dead too, it is mainly for the victim, like you said.. but ive been told by a close friend of mine living in california, that when someones done somethin to someone close to you so bad that they get the death penalty, all you want is closure... but closure never comes, even after that persons dead..

So many conflicting emotions when i think on this.

In one opinion, if you were wanting Saddam dead, killing him the moment he was caught would be too good a way for him to die. He deserves to be tortured as he tortured his people and so many others. Pumping bullets in him is almost and instant death and not at all what he deserves.

But on the other hand, i agree with Ghostoker. Who are we to take a human life. Being a bit of a philosopher and theologion, this would be playing God. You dont want to play God.

And I would completely understand when Saddam is sentenced to death. As he most likely will be. I just wouldnt want the decision to be up to me.

He is an animal no doubt about it.

And where is Osam? I havent really been following that story lately.
