    Anyone start with hydro?

In the past couple of months I have been trying to learn all that I can before I start my grow. Before about a week ago, I only looked at soil because I thought hydroponics would be out of my league. However, I bought a dvd the other day showing a hydroponic setup. I was amazed at how easy it seemed. In all that I have learned about soil, it seemed as though hydroponics would be a much easier setup. There is no problem with attentiveness, I plan on watching my plants hourly. Plus, just the whole idea of rockwool and nutrients would give me a greater amount of control over my plants, which seems like a very good thing. Sort of "watching them grow" if you will.

Now my questions are these. Has anyone else started with hydro? If they have, has it been successful? If no one has, does anyone think it can be done? Would I get a higher yield from an SOG soil grow? Is there such a think as an SOG hydroponic system, and would it work? Thanks everyone for all your help.

IF you are willing to spend 1 hour with your plants every day.. and get the proper "TESTers",,,

An you have an IQ that is over 27.3 ... then you can do HYDRO... and it is a lot of fun...

Good to have some extra CASH too..

Sounds good. I think I'll follow latewood and set up a really nice hydro set, but have a couple plants running in soil too, just in case the IQ test is wrong and my IQ is lower than 27.4. Culturally biased tests anyways, you know.

    Hi , graph
I have or am trying a small sea of green. 6 plants at a time. It works good except for mixing strains and they don't grow at the same rate NL's and Papaya. I started with soil and failed very bad using wrong stuff and no green thumb. I went to hydro and was very successfull and continue to be. It's more science and that makes since to me. Remember PH is the whole key to hydro. PH, PH, PH. And feed as heavy as you can it make the difference.

If they are growing good , your PH can't be too bad. That's good.

    "If they're growing, you're golden." That's what I say.

I did the same on my first grow. I just threw shit together from local convenient stores and got some shultz plant food... I started on that and some other household gardening nutrients that I had laying around. I switched over to the gh 3part about three weeks into veg and they grew fine, I was amazed to watch the plant shoot up when i ran the 35 dollar dwc setup properly. It was fun to grow for sure. You might wind up paying more than you originally bargained for though; It's easy to buy little things here and there that build up the grand total.
    good luck.
