1st off...In hydro the more nutrient solution and oxygen you can supply to the roots the better. In both DWC and NFT or Drip you have mature root system in water all the time...

Now another important thing to realize is that neither of us grow in Rockwool. Using hydroton or perlite or inert rocks
allows such great drainage that you are constantly flushing fresh-oxygenated nutrient solution over/thru/,etc. the root system.

Only in units, usually ebb and flow, using rockwool slabs, would you run into a over-wet problem, because as we all know rockwool retains moisture over long periods of time.

I hope I explained my take on this clearly enough for you...
