I agree. The first 4 steps are optional.

it is possible. it takes work, don't hate your sucky playing at first. when you start to learn songs, figure them out for yourself. you will start to remember tones of notes and where they are on the fretboard. learn to improvise!

It depends, if you wanna play "punk" or metal, you won't need to learn anything really.

If you want to become a MUSICIAN then you'll need some direction.

Even if its learning the basics and then learning by yourself.
