never stop learning either. whenever you hear a song, listen to the guitar. learn multiple styles, and it will help your play. dont look at scales and think you wont use the shit, cause you will without realizing it. the pentatonic scale is one you should learn and learn well.

I find it very hard to work with computer guides. Here's a book on Amazon, and it looks pretty good. It's only 11 bucks - and the cover says that a CD is included:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/1893...33#reader-page

At some point, you should try getting an instructor - developing good technique is important, and it's easier to learn to play the right way in the beginning, so that you don't have to unlearn incorrect technique later on. Of course, feeling is the most important aspect of music.

Taping yourself is also a good idea, so you can work on problem areas and check your progress.

Do everything VERY SLOW at first. If something is not working, slow it down.

Download Power Tab. Find it on google. Its a music score programme, and you can download the scores for any songs u want, and it plays them for u so you can follow it on the tab. Its the tits, it give the proper score as well as tab underneath. Learning songs from tab is well easy. Also, don't just fuck about with your guitar before you've learned the basics. Learn some simple songs, and some scales, then you can start improvising and shit. I suggest you learn the E minor scale. Loads of songs use that (nearly all Guns n' Roses for example), and its pretty easy to learn.

i wouldn't waste time trying to learn to read music notation, improv is more fun and exciting than learning other people's songs.

    Learn
    1) a few basic chords
    2) major and minor scales/ the modes
    3) try starting with a minor pentatonic scale >> sounds cool and is easy, five note sequence of the blues

Unfortunately you need more than a month to get anywhere with it, but if you have nothing else to do now's a good time to start.

One other reccomendation, after u learn a scale or something be sure to practice it blazed, it helps you get over inhibitions and experiment more. I find this helps you learn things faster just by exploring your instrument on your own.

well i used to play, then i gave up... it was a christmas present! :-)
