Thank you everybody for answering my questions, it's really helped. I'm prone to panic attacks anyway, which is why I'm trying to find as much info as possible because that will keep me calmer.
One more question (for now!):
Can I build up a tolerance by passive smoking, enough that my first time actually smoking wouldn't be so likely to panic me?
