scaring myself
ok, i know this comes up alot, so im sorry, but im starting to worry. im a freshman in college and ive smoked on and off since my sophomore year. in high school it was a rare treat, monthly to every other month. unless i bought some, which was seldom. now im at school and since december ive smoked everyday. and i know that doesnt seem like a long time, but the idea of going to bed not stoned seems awful to me, and that frightens me. right now im home for spring break, sitting in my living room with my parents, and all i can think about is the spliff i just made thats sitting in my room. i cant wait to smoke it when my parents go to sleep. i have a quarter ounce sitting in my drawer. ive never smoked this much before. ive never owned this much before. ive never felt addicted before, but i do. and i know its not addicting physically, im not stupid. but the fact that my day revolves around when im smoking, that scares me. i feel like since i first started smoking, ive just done it more and more frequently, and now im waiting for the day i smoke 5 or 6 times. i dont want to be brain dead. i dont want people to say, there goes that stoner girl. should i cut back? or am i just being paranoid? has anyone else ever scared themselves with the amount they smoke? sorry for the redundency, and all advice is greatly appreciated

Its not CHEMICALLY addictive, but it is physically addictive, but then again isn't everything? Chewing gum constantly will make you wan't to keep chewing it when you can get it, so the same can go for any other substance, atleast thats my opinion.
Anyway, since you said you used to do it seldomly, and now your doing it very often, then its probably just cause your getting used to the whole being able to get it whenever you wan't thing. I stopped smoking 4 years, and now I've got a hookup and I've been smoking almost everyday, when I used to smoke like 1-2 times a month. The only thing that scares me is my tolerance level going up too much, I don't wanna have to waste all my weed, since lately I haven't been feeling really stoned when I smoke.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry. But if you think you have no self control, then just smoke the rest of your stuff, and don't do it anymore for a month or two, and prove to yourself that you aren't addicted. I quit for 4 years, so I know I really don't need it, but its nice as hell getting high when theres nothing else to do.

That's cool that you're in college. Sorta proves that you're not exactly "stoner girl"... yet. But college is alot of pressure. If you're serious about cutting back, sit yourself down and figure out just why you're smoking so much more. Are you living at home still or are you living at college? (You don't need to answer that) But sometimes getting away from home, you just want to feel as free as you can feel. Figure out who you are or who you want to be. That's probably the process you're going through now.
I would do exactly as the previous poster suggested. Just stop for a while. Mark it on your calendar if you have to. Maybe it has alot to do with maturity level. I'm not suggesting that your immature (don't even know you) but sometimes the older you are it's just easier to make the decision to stop whenever you need to.
I'm over 40 and I've been smoking on and off for the past 22 years. When I have it, I smoke it. When I don't... well.. then I don't. Its just sorta matter of fact.
Good luck to you! I hope your college experience is all it should be!

Yeah I have to say the major problem with weed is that it is not accepted socially around the world. I mean drinkers that like beer, whine, mixed drinks on a daily basis and would go crazy if they couldn't drink, or go to the liquor store to buy their boos and probably couldn't sleep as good as normal if they were forced to say sober. If cig. smokers couldn't buy their next pack of cigs they would be irritable as fuck,,,its all the same..thats why herb needs to be legal.
But what I see, is that people with multiple addictions (Alcohol, Tobacco, Weed) do better without weed if they dont have it because they will ALWAYS have 2/3 of their addictions available around the world, missin just weed if they can't find it illegally. For me I just like weed, so if I have to go without it, I get really irritable, and like you can't sleep because its the only thing I do.:rasta: :stoned:

the fact that u realized all of that and didnt try to suppress it means you can beat this addiction. this thread proves it. all yah need to do is take a 1 month break, just don't buy it, let your mind go crazy, but do NOT call up that dealer. by the 2nd week, your addiction will be gone. after the 4 weeks are over, u will see pot in a different light.
think about how you began smoking, it was a really really special even that u had to plan for in ahead and you were actually excited to smoke again. i bet that smoking has gotten a lot easier for you now, right? you have a set dealer, you know when you can smoke, and you've probably taken a few chances because you wanted to smoke at that exact moment. that is the root of addiction in my opinion, accessibility.
to control my pot smoking, i've built myself a nice little reward system. i only smoke when i get something productive done that i tell myself beforehand i must have it done or i can not smoke. for example, NO SMOKING until my research paper is completely finished. then, i get my paper done, i feel like i've accomplished something, and i take my newfound good feeling straight into my high. makes every high a lot better when you feel like you're not just a lazy idiot. try both of these out.
good luck, and just remember, control your drugs, don't let them control you.

it wont let me edit my message, i wanted it to look like this:

try both of these methods out. sometimes i even push myself, i'll put a loaded bong out on a table right in front of my homework so i have to look at it. it's tough to stare at a filled up bong and not smoke the herb; but it builds willpower. if you can stare at your weed when you want it badly and NOT smoke it, then you can EASILY avoid calling your dealer.
good luck, and just remember, control your drugs, don't let them control you.

I think your just worring to much! so you smoke bud! all the time sometimes, many people do, as long as its not messing with your life then you just have to get comfortable with it! if you want to go smoke than it must make you feel good and relax still, when it stops doing that then you need to stop!
