I would go with The Beatles, they basically set the basis for all Rock & Roll.

Chuck Berry invented Rock N' Roll. The Beatles were just highly influential in the technological advancements in music studios.

Jim Morrison wouldn't have been as big if he weren't in The Doors. If he didn't have agood flamenco guitarist and pianist by his side his music would've just been some dumb poems.
