you have some good points man... im not sure a real small girl could handle a short-barreled .45ACP, as the recoil is harsh on the wrists. when i was 12, i could barely handle a 5 inch m1911! but innyway, we should shoot together sometime man. my fave for protection is my 9mm SigPro 2009. It barely recoils, and it is perfect for a tight situation. As to .45, my fave is of course the classic m1911, or a S&W 4506.
