How do you protect yourself?

im not great but my sisters used to be madorettes u knwo them girls whor in the marching band with them metal battons? throwing them around and spiinging them and shit well my sisters told me how to pind and since them i just like woking out little tricks like throwing them around my hand while one end hits a certain area....yeah man best weapons i ever had most people just go white when i pull em out i hardly really use them.:thumbsup: :thumbsup:


just as a warning the telescoping version come under the fire-arms act so be carefull if u want a pair

i studied martial arts for 8 and a half years. I have a black belt. strangly enough, i've never had to use it.

Male or Female, i think the best way to protest youseft is to not be put in a situation where you need protection, using you head not going somewhere that you dont belong or just avoiding potenial dangers. better to be safe that sorry! on the other hand there are those times in life that cant be avoided and thats why i carry a knife, but not just for protection! as for the people that beleave in only bringing there fists, have you ever heard the expression "bringing a knife to a gun fight" you never know when that might happen of you run in to a group of larger stonger men, then what!

I live in the downtown area of a relatively large city with a ridiculous crime rate. So, being a smaller female, I carry a boot knife at all times...just in case.

That there boot-knife,looks more like a skinner knife with a gut-hook,it ain't all that good for actual combat,but it sure could wreak alot of damage !

I think that it would be best,if you went to a woman's self-defense class,they'll teach you how to avoid bad situations in the first place,doing such,is one of the best defenses that you can have-that and developing situational aware-ness. To improve yer odds,you need to be trained in the use of a knife or gun,before using them as your means of defense.

Does North Carolina,have concealed-carry available ? Your best means of defense,other than avoiding bad situations,would be to have a CCW permit and be trained in the use of a pistol in close-quarters,you would also need to mentally prepare yourself for inflicting injuries with lot's of blood and physical damage,which could be the hardest part of all. If you take the CCW route,I suggest a compact 45,as it's stopping power,is much superior to that of a 9mm.

You could also git some pepper-spray,but you need some rudimentary training for that as well. A taser would work good too,but I don't what the laws are in regards to that there in NC,it requires some training as well.

These days with crystal in this stae there are HOme Invasions increasing very quickly..just had one 8 miles from where we live and the elderly couple were lucky that they just robbed them..of course knocked them around a bit but they were in their home..sleeping..tore out of their bed in their home and robbed! So it really does not matter where you are these days..crystal takes away the users self control and I say protection is needed wherever you may be....I hate that drug! I really hate it.

I've carried a pocket knife with me since I was 10. Not necessarily for protection, but you never know when it's gonna be needed. And to answer Torog's question, yes you can get a concealed gun permit pretty much anywhere in NC. While I'm not sure on any limits with tasers, you can buy them so I'm sure you can carry them. For protection, I have a small sword next to my bed and a loaded pistol right next to it.

Just read your post Torog...you are right in what you say but I have to add that even being trained in self defense and the area you are in does not always work..and yes the actual visual aftermath of shooting a person is not like what most people see on t.v. It is a memory that stays with you forever..thats why I really try to tell my g/fs to have a weapon that will kill..not piss a crack/meth head off..if I sound harsh I apologize to you but I firmly believe in using whatever methods available when being attacked...especially if someone were unlucky enough to even get in my home..I will tell whoever it may be even leo if someone makes the mistake of ever attacking me in my home they will not be a need for an ambulance and I mean that! Tasers and pepper spray are useful but I would want to stop the person before I had to come in that kind of close contact with them..but I do have my spray and I pray. And ladies when you are out alone..no matter the area..carry a HOT cup of coffee or liquid (TEA) in your hand and if attacked throw it right in your attackers eyes..try to blind them..because I have learned that much..if they can't see you then you have a chance...and carry your key in between your fingers and jab their eyes if you don't have anything else..right in the eye...there are no "fair fights" these days..do what it takes to live...don't let a punk take your life and/or affect your happy home...sorry Torog about how I feel but its the truth..sorry if it offends you.
