This is a really bad piece of advise. My ccw instructor, nor any instructors in Ohio, won't let you take the course with anything smaller than a .38. If you shoot someone with a .22 in a self defense situation and they are armed you're dead. A .22 is worthless.

Everything you said is completely wrong. A .45 will do MUCH more damage than a .22. You've seen way too many movies, learn some facts.

Also, a gunshot doesn't knock someone over or send them flying, take a simple physics lesson. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Shooting someone with a shotgun will not send them flying backwards. If it did it would also send the shooter flying backwards. This is really basic gun stuff that anyone mildly educated in the area should and would know. I would refrain from giving anyone advise on this subject because you're doing them more harm by telling them to carry a .22 for protection.
