How do you protect yourself?

Im thinking of getting like an 8 shot .22 revolver or a Ruger Mk1 for plinking and target shooting. Thing that prompted me to buy guns? a bullet went through our wall.

Sweet as hell, I shot a Ruger Mk. III when I was in Orlando last, I loved it.
If I were to buy a gun (and they were legal over here) I'd certainly be purchasing one of them!

I mean the .357 and .45's were sweet, but inaccurate at distance, 25 yards with the .22lr and all shots were going at least in the body of the target

I've never really had to think about self defense.I've pretty much lived in small towns my entire life.Even when I was living in Queens, NY I was on a army base.Never fought in my life cause I've never held a reason.But I'm sure if I lived in a huge city with bad crime rate, I would just carry a cross and some garlic...maybe a screw driver.

its a good idea to always have a small knife with you, not even for protection but you never know when you might need to cut something open (like those pesky bags of snacks that seem to be taunting you with their ability to stay closed no matter how hard you try to tear them open). as for myself, i earned a first degree black belt when I was 12, and I've had to use some my skills from time to time, but for the most part, if you grab someone's throat and squeeze like you're trying to touch your fingers together, that person will usually back down pretty quickly. or if you want people to avoid you alltogether, then just carry around a nice big baseball bat. I mean seriously, how many of you would walk up to someone that's walking down the street with a baseball bat?

I live in the downtown area of a relatively large city with a ridiculous crime rate. So, being a smaller female, I carry a boot knife at all times...just in case.

I'm in a martial arts class,So I am learning self defense...If all else fells, I have my bitch boots, (knee high boots, almost like those heavy duty combact boots)

So far i've only had to use them three times. All were perverted males...

Being a smaller female...I suppose we do need certain protection againest certain people...

I took taekwondo, aikido, and judo for a bit, not anymore though, thinking of getting back into it.

I always carry my trusty metal kubaton just in case (I go out at night a lot). If I'm wearing a jacket or generally just have an extreme fear of getting jumped that night, I'll carry my nunchakus (I have like 3-4 pairs, most are wooden or rattan, but I have a metal (chrome) pair too,) which I have extensively trained in.
I also train in iaido, so I'm pretty well-equiped when it comes to fights. I try to avoid them though, my best weapon is parkour, I can get away from someone pretty easily.

Oh yeah, if you're wondering why I am so paranoid, it's because, well, I can't tell you, but let's just say I do a lot of things at night. >_>

in my door of my car i have a tire iron(its L shaped). then i have a switch blade in the glove compartment. Before , i didnt have these items, and one night at a stop sign, a guy beside me in the other lane got out of his car (he was like 6' 4'' 250 ish, and i had my windows down. He said some shit to me and my friends( and remember , i only had 2 friends with me, one small little mexican and a non violent white guy) any ways, the guy also had some friends who were alot bigger than us with him. They got out of the car, and went up to my and was like "im going to fucking kill you" i was like "oh fuck" and i had my windows down, and my sun roof open, so it was easy access. fuck ever since that night, i stay ready and willing to smakc anyone across the face with my tire iron.

I'm also paranoid because I look pretty weak, and I'm underweight. Oh, and the fact that I've been in a fight nearly every year of my life. (Maybe not actual fisticuffs, but confrontations that were seconds away from a fight.)
