1) In terms of grams produced per pound spent after a few grows hydro will be a much better investment. Most of the equipment (ph meter, ec meter, tank) can be reused. I used to grow in soil but would never think of going back now. Hydro is QUICKER, EASIER and has a MUCH higher yield.
2) I grow 4 plants in the space where I used to grow 5 so slightly more space needed for hydro but this varies depending which method you use (DWC, e&f, NFT)
3) Hydro by far
4) Pretty much the same except you'll need a tank to store spare water in hydro but you'll have shitloads of soil to dispose of at the end of each soil grow
hope that helps man

soil takes a good long time, and the yield isnt what you would expect. if you dont cant afford drip systems and timers and all those little things that add up in $$, than i would reccomend planhting in expanded clay pellets (hydroton, geolite). and hand water them with a nutrient solution a couple times a day. it will get you good reslts.

depends on how ur settin it up.. u can go head n buy a hydro system or u can bang it out walmart style.. end up with lyk $50 for a simple hydro system..
$30-80 for some good liquid nutes, dependin on how potent u want your stash to be.. and then u set for waterin..
lights can run from $50-150, dependin on if ur usin lights or not, and dependin on how plan to have the lights set up, and how potent u want your stash to be.
Easier to hide? depends on how you set it up.... you can set up a bin, trunk, closet, room, etc.. but the plants will stink, so that also adds to price, dependin on how much u care about the smell..
the more u invest, the better turnout you'll have, quantity-wise, quality-wise, and security-wise.. or if you plan ur money well, you could come up with the cost-effective equivalent..
