Man, it's all in your head. Everything around you is not real and nothing can hurt you. Mushrooms are great because they are so peaceful and free. Your mind has no barriers and your just having a great time. I have tripped about 10 times on mushrooms and 5 on acid and have never once had anywhere near a bad trip. Tripping is just amazing. You should not do them simply because you are worried about having a bad trip. If you really can't handle weed I would not do them but if you have gotten over that I would deff eat them. Just start small maybe 1.5-2.5 grams depending on how good they are. My final suggestion would be to have good chill music ready. My favorites are the Doors, Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead, Phish, Peter Tosh, and some Marley. I would stay away from rap. I always find it is a downer and makes me not so chill when I'm tripping.
