I totally agree with your sentiments, and personally I try to avoid using the "marijuana" word whenever possible...

However, "marijuana" is included in various select places on cann.com for search engine purposes - many people, in particular in the U.S., search on "marijuana" or similar and thus including that word improves the odds they'll see cann.com in the results and visit here to learn the real truth
