I disagree. Stick with 18/6 right now, the roots NEED the night period to grow and strengthen... also i didnt happen to see a fan in the photos, if u dont have one hooked up, get that goin too... hope i could help...

Yeah, 24/0 is ok for the first week or two, but then your plant really needs a dark cycle. Makes it feel like its mother nature controlling it, and that what your trying to simulate inside. Its look good but just like AC420 said you really should get a fan to blow a gentle breeze on them. It will make the stem stronger, and that way it wont fall over under the weight of the bud.

In the dark cycle you could also try misting the leaves with water, because that will also strengthen them at the same time as the fan doing the stem.

    Good luck!

Thats just not true - a dark period is not needed for roots to grow or to reach full "stregnth". More light means more energy your plant is absorbing through photosynthesis. More energy means more growth (above AND below ground). By doing a 18/6 cycle you are robbing the plant of potential energy by 25%!!!

Also, if you think that 18/6 is replicating nature, you are gonna have to go near the arctic circle to get those conditions... and try growing up there.

Bottom line, 24/0 for veg is the absolute most efficient way to grow. The ONLY reasons to do less is for electric costs or heat concerns. (neither of which seem to be a prob since you are using floros.)

ok, johnnyPotGrower is right, but if you got powerful lights, or your a bit tight on money like me. you use 18/6 coz its less on the electric bill

    OH SIGH

hey britewire, before you tell people to read up on the calvin cycle maybe YOU should read it yourself...

This is a passage from the exact link you just put up:
During photosynthesis, light energy is used to generate chemical free energy, stored in ATP and NADPH. The light-independent Calvin cycle, also (misleadingly) known as the "dark reaction" or "dark stage", uses the energy from short-lived electronically-excited carriers to convert carbon dioxide and water into organic compounds that can be used by the organism (and by animals which feed on it). This set of reactions is also called carbon fixation. The key enzyme of the cycle is called RuBisCO. In the following equations, the chemical species (phosphates and carboxylic acids) exist in equilibria among their various ionized states as governed by the pH.

The enzymes in the Calvin cycle are functionally equivalent to many enzymes used in other metabolic pathways such as glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, but they are to be found in the chlorophlast stroma instead of the cell cytoplasm, separating the reactions. They are activated in the light (which is why the name "dark reaction" is misleading)

again, a dark cycle is NOT needed for your plants' vegetative phase. any period of dark is only robbing your plant of potential energy it could be using to grow.

Its obvious here that it cannot be determined whether 18/6 or 24/0 is better for "VEG" growth...

For me it is simple... (FOR VEGETIVE GROWTH STAGE)
    18/6 - For Soil Growers
    24/0 - For Hydro Growers

Because of this we'll take it to the polls...

BY THE WAY: Mr. JPG, Britewire and I wanna see you in the parking lot after school... 18/6 M***** F******!!!!!!!!

    Stay UP :rasta:
