My setup:
- Very large flowering room (24 X 18).
- 3 1000W HPS lamps
- Growing in soil

1 - How many plants under a 1000W HPS would give the maximum yield ?

2 â?? What would have to be the size of each pots/plants so that it all fits ?

3 â?? Should I separate the 3 lamps from one another or keep them close to one another ?

4 â?? Should I use those tracks setup that I heard about ?

Thanks so much for the help.
Answer:
1: General rule is 100 watts per plant but thats a general rule you can have just 1 plant under a 1000 w light but its a waste.
Also if your walls arent covered in reflective foil, paint etc you will lose alot of light and with 3 1000w lights you want it all I recommend for wall covering mylar its like aluminum foil but it has like a 98-99% reflective rate(The best out to my knowledge)MH aka Metal Halide lights are good to start the plants on for the germ veg states HPS is best for flowering only but many use for whole cycles.
2: Depends if planning on changing pots or want it settled once you start.
I usually start in 10in wide 10in deep pots and only change if I have to(if strain grows abnormally big or roots bunch) then I move to a 10qt bucket can buy at wal-mart for 98cents.
3: 24X18 is a big room and it depends again on how you want to set it up.
Although main light comes from the light directly the glow will be lost if you dont have the correct reflective walls around your plants.
If it was me I would bunch them together with a fan on each boxed off if had to and mylar the walls surrounding them. The fan is for temp control as well as wind simulation which stengthens the stems which is vital for flowering to handle the wieght of the buds.
4: Use whatever setup you feel comfortable with.
If you want best bud best yield with those lights you are a fool to not invest in a good Hydroponics kit or build your own if you know how.
