Sativa vs. Indica

I want to know what the differance in smells and other things you can use to distinguish between. I read that sativa has almost a fruit smell to it and indica smells like well weed. Is this true?

kinda, sativas tend to smell fruity, i guess, and indicas more skunky. but not always. sorry no caps, i got in a car wreck and i'm typing with one hand.
