broken,mad plant,,HELP !!

hi,i'm from the uk growing a plant outdoors (first trial plant),and the kids snapped off a branch about a week ago,its about 4-5 wks into flower and has gone nuts,exploding with new leaf growth,but these are diffrent to the leaves i had before,there,bigger and fatter,any input would be appreciated.

Is the new leaf growth at the place of the buds or other spots?
