turn the lights off altogether for the final 2 weeks?
I got this on this site: http://www.white-widow-seeds.com/
Quote:
"Flowering Time: On both mediums it is suggested to flower (12 hour light) the White Widow for 8 weeks, but 10 weeks will really give you the crystals you are after. We suggest the final 2 weeks of the flowering cycle to turn the lights off altogether - or at least down to 8 hours. This keeps the flowers from regrowth and stresses the plant into giving up its last drop of goodness as crystal to protect the flower...try it!"
Can you do this for any strain and do you recomentd it at all?

This was discussed extensively on overgrow and did not see any conclusive evidence. Don't see the point in depriving the plant of energy at the most important part of the cycle

turn the lights off altogether for the final 2 weeks?
Your point makes sence Bluefunk as I think 2 weeks is simply too much but I would believe that the last 2 to 4 days with no light could make a difference if what I've read is true: Plant flower in the dark ?!?!????
Any input?

I can harvest the bulk of the grow when the trichomes are ready... then try the 2 dark weeks with one plant... see how the trichomes turn out...

Thanks Turtle420 and please let me know the results! As far as 2 weeks in the dark, it could be too much but maybe a couple days like 4 or 5!

turn the lights off altogether for the final 2 weeks?
On a dutch site a guy did a test with 2 excactly the same setups and clones regarding this item.. it“s bullshit, it didn“t give it any extra cristals or whatsoever. the plant with light straight through the end was the one that had the most THC AND the most weight on it..

The plant needs light to process the chlorophyll. 2 weeks of dark can harm them even at the end of the cycle with out light they will not grow. You can take it down to 10 light on but less then that and you are missing the point. Plus you need the light to help the plant use up stored chlorophyll and remove that taste. You do stop feeding them N the last 2 weeks to make them used up the food they have stored. That speeds up the curing process as well.

turn the lights off altogether for the final 2 weeks?
OK so I will only use the 12/12 light cycle with the absence of any food (except water) for the last 2 weeks.
Any other advice ?

turn the lights off altogether for the final 2 weeks?
Sorry mate but my advice would be not to bother... if you really fancy doing a scientific experiment, use a different variable. Different nutes, different light, different wall covering (paint, mylar, foil) anything which is likely to have a positive effect, I'll bet my grow and my house that nothing beneficial will happen to your plants if kept in the dark for 2 weeks. The whole 2 weeks/1 week/ 48 hours darkness before harvesting was debated in detail on overgrow - I did not see one side-by-side experiment that made the blind bit of difference. The main positive contributers were just "wow look how crystally my plant is, i left it in dark for the week before that must be it!!!111"

I have taken plants that I did not have time to trim at the moment and put them in the dark when the nugs were ready to harvest for a few days. The crystal growth in my opinion is not much different although drying the soil out in the dark makes them extra tasty.
One love

Any one ever try 48 hours dark before fower?
