cool so how do you smoke it? can you just eat it instead? how do you measure the dose?

First time smoking hash so yesterday i went to a friend of mines apartment to buy weed, but he was out... so he sold me a vial of honey oil for 15$ He told me he would smoke a big ass bowl of hash with me, so he filled a pipe bowl, with light brownish yellow dried hash flakes. I hit it, and hit it and hit it about 8 times... and i waited for an extreme high, but it never came, so i left to start walking home. *Wham* it hit me on my way home.
