the best idea would be to leave the hours the way they are. i tried setting my days back to 14 hours, and most of my plants started flowering. i would suggest changing to about 16, but i wouldnt change at all.

During flowering, the room needs to have as few light leaks as possible during the night cycle. In fact, it'd be wise to not have any light leaking to the plant -- wouldn't want it to go hermie, would you?

Just make sure theres nothing near the ballast that could catch fire. I was on vacation for 30 days and was worried sick that my apt. was gonna burn down.
I'm confused WHY you want to change to 14. If you're on vacation, why couldn't you leave it at 16?

the reason why i went to 14 from 16 is that i am not there and if its two hours shorter its just that much more for my mind to be at ease.when i am away.. i know if you screw with the light often or by a huge drop it can cause it to hermi..., but 2 hours less should be fine?
Same with me Sjoe i was freaked out i would burn my appt down but from what people say i should be cool......and i should of never messed with the lights.....I don't like the hummmmmmmm my ballest makes----------------- are digtal Ballest less nosiy??????You know the hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Dude, I've read of hard-core people, that change the lights schedules in 15 minutes increments, per day.

I don't have that much experience, but good luck on that one.
"hmmm" of you ballast... is it new? If it's new, then take it back man. I've got a monster dual ballast (one box, 400W MH + 600W HPS) and it makes no noise.
Digital ballast are supposedly noiseless, but I think they're too much under-developed right now, March 2006. Maybe March 2007.
lol
