Children need a degree of supervision and guidance to survive and become healthy, useful adults. With one disclaimer...we trust you but if you give us a reason not to trust you...remember what dad does for a living (IT)...he can and will find out if you are not behaving. They behaved. (at least on my computers they did, what they did at other kids houses I can't say for sure)
All you need to know is to not act like an idiot.
I have never had restricted internet, because my parents trust me, and in turn I have never really been that curious about things that are out there. I know what they are, and I don't need to mess with them.
I smoke weed, but I don't do anything that will really mess me up, I don't even drink anymore, and I do well in school. As long as your parents believe you are responsible the easier it is to be so. You don't feel the need to rebel, because you are respected. Just my two cents (am 14 as well by the way.)
