a 7 X 6 ft. area..........

Hell yes! As long as you line it with mylar (about £2 a metre, its quite expensive) it should be fine.
You shouldnt have any heat problems in a space that big either. Hell, Ive got a 600w HPS in a closet thats only a few feet big and about 5ft high and the heat is easily manageable.
