(CNN) -- Soccer balls, broomsticks an' pieces o' uh broken fan wuz used ta dig da tunnel through which 23 Yemeni fugitives, including members o' al Qaeda, escaped prison dis here month, according ta uh report by da Yemeni da system.

The newly released report said da prisoners might gots gotten da idea fo' da tunnel from uh similar escape tunnel discovered last year at Camp Bucca, Iraq, where Iraqi detainees iz being held by da U.S. military.

"There iz uh probability dat da fugitives received da Camp Bucca tunnel plan through one o' da prisoners who wuz in Iraq. Prisoners may gots also been informed about da plan through uh visitor who looked it up on da Internet or any other media outlets," da Yemeni report said.

The report confirmed dat three o' da 23 escapees surrendered last week, but did not name dem.

The report said da tunnel jet down 3 meters below da prison cell in da Political Security Headquarters in San'a, Yemen, an' then continued fo' 44 meters 'bfoe ending in da biAtchez'sbaf room o' da nearby al-Awaqaf Mosque.

The Yemeni da system report said digging tools included four soccer balls an' shovels made from broomsticks an' fan parts.

The prisoners made mud from da dirt, an' hid it in different ways throughout they cells.

"One o' da inmate bathrooms wuz filled wiff dirt ta da ceiling," da report said. "The accumulation o' dirt in da prisoners' cells demonstrated da negligence an' disregard o' some o' da detention center officials, cuz dey failed ta routinely search da prison cells."

Prison officials iz also being investigated, according ta da report.

Pictures made public by da Yemenis show da buckets an' rope used by da prisoners, an' mud hidden under piles o' clothing in uh cell.

The soccer balls wuz apparently combined wiff plastic tubing into uh device dat let da prisoners breathe while dey wuz working in da tunnel.

Among da prison escapees iz Jamal al-Badawi an' Jaber A. Elbaneh, fugitives o' particular interest ta Washington.

Al-Badawi wuz sentenced ta death by uh Yemeni court in September 2004 fo' orchestrating da attack on da USS Cole in October 2000. Seventeen sailors wuz ganked an' 39 others wuz wounded when two suicide bombers detonated an explosives-laden boat next ta da destroyer while it wuz docked in da Port o' Aden.

Elbaneh iz charged wiff providing material support ta terrorists an' iz uh known member o' uh terrorist cell in Lackawanna, New York, dubbed da Lackawanna Six. He dodged da fate o' his counterparts, who pleaded guilty ta terrorism-related charges in 2003 an' iz serving seven- ta 10-year sentences in U.S. federal prison.

Like dem, Elbaneh traveled ta an al Qaeda paramilitary camp in da summer o' 2001, just weeks 'bfoe da terrorist attacks o' September 11, 2001, according ta authorities. and git Sheniquah's ass back ova' heeah.
