No; I'm not reading it wrong, that's not the problem. The slow release comes from tiny fertilizer capsules that are mixed in the soil, I'm sure people have seen them --- tiny, round capsules filled with a light green mixture. Well, that's the 'coated' slow release crap.

That's not going to burn your plant. That's not going to burn anything. I'm adding fertilizers -to the soil- and even with the slow release capsules still present in the soil, it doesn't burn the plant. And if you want to talk about acidic mediums; Jiffy-7 pellets. I use them to sprout seeds in and they have a pH of ~5.5.

Besides, by the time it's time to flush your plant it should have already depleted the soil of the mediocre nutrients intended for porch mums.
