Got busted - did I do the right thing?

My parents were suspicious that I was smoking, so they raided my room and found my "paraphenalia" (pieces, grinder, etc.) but no bud (I was dry). They found it on Wednesday, and decided to wait until Friday to tell me. Unfortunately, on Friday I picked up an 1/8th and so my parents tell me what they found and ask what I had to say. I thought for a second and decided just to shoot straight. I said "I take complete responsibility, and will talk with a clear head if you will too."

We then discussed it all, no arguements. My dad used to smoke, and my mom is OK with it morally but they decided since it is illegal, they just couldn't allow me to keep it in the house. They basically suggested that I could smoke elsewhere but not keep anything in the house and if I get busted, I'm in big trouble.

They then asked me if I had anything else and I decided to fess up and be completely honest. I handed over my eighth and as a result, they are now proud of me and trust me and feel that I have matured, but I am stuck now morally. I really would like to smoke (I'm just a weekend warrior) but now I feel I would be betraying their trust to just go out and buy a new piece and pick up some bud. I think if I talked to them a bit, maybe they would let me keep a bit in the house and smoke on occasion. What would you do?

I wish more kids were like you. Actually, we have similar rules in our house. We know we can't control what our kids do when not home but we do not allow them to drink, smoke, screw, etc in our house. Hell, I can't even smoke in my house. Keep the peace and follow the rules until you get your own place. Listen to your conscience. Sounds like your parents are decent people and deserve the respect. And is certainly can't hurt to keep the lines open and keep talking to them.

It seems to me that your parents are taking advantage of you because they can, and, pretty soon, they won't be able to. I bet that's an underlying reason, even if they don't realize it.

Parents that admit that they have smoked are cool. Parents that still smoke are smart. Parents that abuse alcohol (even moderately) are going down the track that they were raised to think was right. We've learned that they're wrong. Thank God for the person, or agency, that brought out the information suppressed by our former government.

If you're gonna go golfing, make sure you bring your weed, it's a long walk.

    Or a nice ride.

Here's a way you can win..and it's the exact same thing I told my brother.
If you can't smoke weed inside than smoke it outside. He stashes his outside in a little box in a tree stump, and when everyone falls asleep or whatever he goes outside and tokes one up. Just pay attention to what direction the wind is blowing!
I suppose this may not work if you live in the city like right beside a bunch of other houses. Thank god I live in the country.
But then again, I'm such a stoner it probably wouldn't matter if it was in the city, I'd smoke it anyway.

Thanks guys, I think I'm just going to take a break until summer because my grades are falling a bit and I don't need it. I'll just pick up again in summer and keep everything outside or at a friends. That seems fair.
