Actually, there was somebody who did something about it: Thomas Jefferson. He produced his own edited version of the Bible. He cut out the entire Old Testament as well as all references to divinities, mystical beings and magic tricks. A Bible with no gods or witches or demons or miracles, just Jesus preaching peace and tolerance towards men. That was a good step in the right direction, but Christians have forgotten about Jefferson's Bible for some reason. Instead they keep on publishing the verses that promote homophobia, sexism, slavery and genocide out of tradition

Hell man, you can't put people in the seats with compassion these days. Even Ben Kingsley as Gandhi was slow, and there was only, like, one explosion in that movie. If you want box office magic, you need some demons or serial killers or at least a fucking ewok. Maybe you can tell a story about getting inside some kind of building, as long as there are lazers and a lot of clocks...

John in the NIV says 2 times in two differant books (John and 1st John) that "Know one has ever saw God" and clearly many old testament Patriarchs are said to have seen God. Another fig-ment, eh.

Pauls says "Love keeps no record of wrongs"

One of my favorite gory Bible scenes is 2 Kings 2:23-24, where Elisha calls upon God to kill 42 children who mock him for being bald.

So killing homosexuals is bad but killing children is your favorite part......

What I think is sad is how Christians get pummeled with anti stuff while budest, Muslims, Sidda Yogis, ect get a pass. I'm sure people can justify it by saying "well, look at all the horrible stuff those Christians have done in the name of god!" While no one has ever committed horrible acts in the name of other gods......like say the Aztecs, or maybe Muslims....Even Native Americans. Pick a religion and you can find evil people within justifying their deeds. Pick a religion and you can find inconsistency within some of the teachings.
Pick a religion and you can find good, honest, loving people who are doing their best to stay on the path to god and to help others along the way.

Even as parents we at time contradict ourselves....does that mean everything we say is not true? of couse not. Hand a foulable man a perfect creation and some time, and through the nature of man, that creation will become fouled or flawed.

If justification for your lifestyle is what youâ??re seeking, and trying to tear down someoneâ??s faith does that for you, then maybe you should rethink your own religion.
