As we all know thc is very effective to chronic pain (esp. neurologic). So in that aspect it might help. But since this a drug that no one really researches, trail and error is all the science community can offer. The major cause to chronic panreatitis is etoh consumpution along with a few other genetic disorders. So if smoking pot stops you from having that martini on the weekends then yes, pot is helping.
