I switch it, but my friends think im a weed hog, i usually take a huge ass hit, or like 3 huge ass hits each serperated by a tiny little breath then i exhale a cloud.

Or if im smokeing to myself i will take a hit after hit after hit, pass it to myself and hit it again!

only rule i have about that is, once you blow out a substantiel ammount of the hit (coughing or voluntarily) that's a hit, whether you like it or not... now if you should happen to cough when you're in the process of hitting it (unless you blow out the weed or blow water up into it) i'll let it slide a couple of times... just don't expect to come take some huge ass rip off something, blow half it out, and take fill in your lungs again.. and i'm only really notorious for smoking etiquete when no one's stoned/buzzed... if everyone's fucked up all i care about is, pass it within a reasonable ammount of time but i'm not counting, don't drop it, dont' spill the bowl, don't spill bong water, or anything for that matter and anything else i could really care less about...

i hit it like a whore sucking DICK<JK THATS FUCKING STUPID, but if its a joint i take one long hit then if poss another one till ican bare no more, if its a bowl with a carb i hit it carb hit it hard carb then fill up the rest then carb if its a bong i just hit it once (odviously) and if its foil (godforbid) i take small hits so the foil has less of a chance of burning its harmful shit into my body.

i never make a big deal about etiquette when i'm smokin cuz i don't want to ruin the mood. after the high is done or the next time i meet with em i'll joke around and say they messed up but i never scold anyone or anything... thats just an asshole move i think
