    MH & CFL for flowering?

im going to have a few plants going into flowering soon and was wondering if it was okay to run MH while flowering?
i will also be using CFL rated at 2700K for the red spectrum
im thinking about running 400 watt MH light, and approximately 6-8 CFL putting out 130 watts each

you think this set up will be okay for flowering?
    thanks

    MH & CFL for flowering?

Hello pdp I can't say anything about the CFL's I've never used them but if they produce red light they should be fine.
The MH will flower alone but I've heard that around a 10% reduction in bud can be expected compared to using a HPS bulb.

I was forced to use a MH for a long time on the flowering of my last grow and I noticed that the buds were less compact/dense. However it did produce bud.

Sorry I can't tell you anymore

    MH & CFL for flowering?

my friend says that we should just use CFLs
i told his dumbass that it would be better to use both MH & CFLs
he says he doesnt want to mix the spectrums
i feel it is better to get a range of spectrums, even though flowering requires more red
    what do you guys think
i want to prove his stupid ass wrong

actually your right about both spectrums being best for flower but both spectrums in the same output valocity in other words using a mh and a hps would be optiomal using mh for flowering isnt unheard off as mand has said(hello temptress) BUT for flowering purposes hps's and cfls would make much more sense then mh and cfls..if its not to late maybe you should look into a switchable ballest which can be used in conjuction with either mh or hps bulbs...

    MH & CFL for flowering?

Bk makes a good point man, get a switchable ballast and use MH/HPS for flower, that would be the best... if your wondering about CFL's look @ my grow log for insight and info, if u have any more questions just holler...

    MH & CFL for flowering?

let me clear some stuff up
we have a 1000 watt HPS, but it gets too hot
thats why we're using the 400 watt MH
no choice, and we are not going to get a switchable ballast due to funds
so, is it better to use MH + CFLs, or CFLs alone in flowering????
    thanks

    Use the MH and CFL.

Adding the MH to the CFL wont take away anything from the CFL.... it will only help.

You can tell your friend he's totally wrong.

Hello pdp If you can use the 1000 watt HPS then that would be perfect for flowering, simply the best light for the job

However combining both the MH and the CFL'S would be a pretty good alternative
