I think you guys are celebrating too soon. BC NDP is not the ruling party of canada. The Conservitives are the ruling party of Canada at the moment with 124 seats followed closely in seats by the Liberals with 103 then the Bloc Quebecois with 51 and then the NDP with 29, they really dont hold enough power to legalize weed.

ok. upon further reading. this is what i conclude:
the BC NDP (ruling party in canada) has officialy changed their party policy to legalizing marijuan in all forms.
so the law isnt changed yet. but the party thinks it should be.

Ok I feel I really gotta clear some things up here.

1. the BC NDP is not the "ruling party of Canada" because they're a provincial party, NOT federal!

2. the NDP is not in power right now, the provincial Liberals are. (however I know who I'll be voting for next election).

3. the Federal conservative party, now in charge, is sure to make life difficult for us. but regardless, this is a HUGE step!

Sounds good but for us iggarunt murricans, wtf is the BC NDP? Natl Democratic Party in BC? Are they in a position to pass legislature? Can they condradict the federal law (if thats the right term) on this?

I mean is this more than just some local group adopting a resolution like making all nuclear weapons illegal which really has no relevance other than to state a position?
