Me and a friend have a grow going on in his house at the moment,we have a 600w hps and 5 feminised seeds.2 nevil haze x grapefruit, 2 cindy 99's and one white widow x big bud,there only 2 weeks old and have been on 18/6 until now,they look really healthy with no stretching and 3 sets of leaves.i was talking to him today and he was told by someone (a) put them on 24 hours of light and (b) that if he didnt that they would turn male,i only have a small bit of knowledge on the subject but but i'm pretty sure that this will fuck them up.I also am pretty sure that even if this was a good idea that its not a good idea to fuck with an established light cycle,he's started the cycle already and if they need to be saved how quickly do i need to act,are they done for already?? THIS IS THE LAST ACT OF A DESPERATE MAN!! Cheers

18/6 or 24/0. Either one is fine. Sex is genetic. Only extreme environmental stress could potentially cause male-ness or hermi-ness. 24/0 is fine but it has nothing to do with the sex.

It's doubtful that changing your cycle would have a bad effect...just look at nature. Unless you're at the equator, days get longer as you approach the summer solstice, and shorter as you approach the winter solstice. And plants still seem to grow ok in nature.

Just keep doing it on 18/6. Your friend is wrong. You can tell him that with certainty. 24/0 and 18/6 are both lighting schedules for vegetation. 12/12 is for flowering.
As for male or female? This has nothing to do with lighting really. In fact, you have more chance of a hermie (both male & female) when you cause stress (like changing to 24/0 now)
So it's all good. No need for desperation.

yeah dont keep switching back and forth it will cause stress which will make u get a hermie.. You should get superthrive it helps the stress for the plants. Under 18/6 make sure their is no light leaks it must be pitch dark with no light interruption whatso ever, that will cause a hermie if you do
