need help building copy of "mini caddy" from sunlightsheds..
Im looking to build a copy of the 'mini caddy' from sunlightsheds..
http://sunlightsheds.com/mini_caddy.htm
Dimensions: 36" tall x 31" wide x 20" deep
this is a first grow btw so I wanted to keep it somewhat smaller...
originally I was going to purchase something like this off ebay..
http://cgi.ebay.com/Garden-Cabinet-p...QQcmdZViewItem
but I decided to build one myself instead...since it seems all it really is is a cabinet with a exhaust...
I wanted something compact that can fit in...and those c22/c24 cabs look way too big/seem hard relocate if necessary..(didnt
even see the c22/c24 at the store..only online)
so I went to home depot and looked around for the mills pride cabinets for something compact with similar dimensions to the
ebay cab and I came accross this plastic cab which is basically the same size as the sunlightsheds mini caddy model and decided
to duplicate that...
pretty much I want to keep this under $1000.
HYDRO SYSTEM
1. 14 Plant HydroFlora Dual Drip & Ultrasonic Fogging Hydroponic System
http://hydroponicgarden.net/site/990290/product/HF-14 (same as in minicaddy setup)
(ORDERED)
LIGHTING
2. digital ballast w/ daystar AC for the hood w/ ducting to left and right of unit(passive intake on the right, 250cfm inline
fan exhaust on the left) with glass seperating chamber and reflector, so it will be completely independent.
LIGHTPROOFING/ REFLECTIVITY
3. mylar for reflectivity + (weatherstriping for light leaks?) some sort of 90 degree pvc piping(or dryer tubing) on the
intake & for the intake/exhaust of the hood
VENTILATION
4. exhaust- 95cfm can fan exhaust mounted in upper left corner(as opposed to their bathroom fan exhaust) going to a carbon
filter right outside the unit.
intake- 250cfm inline fan intake at lower middle of unit(i guess Ill also add the holes for the wires to pull through... but
should I add those 2 louveur type vents they have too?)
STRAIN
5. AnnaC NYCD seeds(seedbay) with some sort of training....
and maybe some lowrider to fill the void after plants are sexed and males are removed.
TOOLS
6. tools wise... all i would need is something to cut the holes for the fans right? what do I use to secure the fans to the
holes?
CLONING SYSTEM
7. 15 Plant Cloning Chamber w/ 2inch netpots, neoprene plugs, ultrasonic fogger, 3gal reservoir
http://hydroponicgarden.net/site/990290/product/CC-15
(can a small grow like lowryder be used in this when not cloning?
(can be put under hydroflora system & removed for independent cloning)
thanks in advance for any input they may have
btw anyone know any other good sites where I can look up stealth and minigrows like this? og was a great resource.. but
unfotunately its gone =(xsailbox Reviewed by xsailbox on . need help building copy of "mini caddy" from sunlightsheds.. I would use foam for walls instead of wood. Get the shiny stuff for light reflection and easy cutting. It resists heat as well. You would need a wood frame true enough but the foam may help. Or what I would do is sleep on the coach and just line the walls with mylar of your bedroom. Pond liner is great to air tight the rooms. Basically I think you know what you are doing and will have much success. You can always go bigger or start big and save on labor. Nugs go quick.

Dont vent the light like crazy as 75% of the energy a bulb uses is to get up to temp to run. For CO2 consider yeast water and sugar and shake it once a day. It works great. In an apartment I used to have I build a cabinet out of a dresser. I took out the drawers and smashed off the backs then glued them back on. the whole front lifted off. I had two plants in bud when the owner sold the house and no one was the wiser. Any way good luck and have fun

for the fan holes if using wood get a pipe hole cutter that attaches to a drill at the local hard ware store.

O sheet metal is great to help it stay cool if you are motivated enough to make the cabinet out of it. Just shut the door and put air flow on the outside. Harder to cut but hey itll pay off

So... Ok, I've got a cool tube, which will get a 400W MH + a 600W HPS. I saw a figure the other day, that said you should get about 4CFM/watt.
So, my 1000Watt setup should be getting 400CFMs.
But, you bring up an interesting point... the bulb needs to be hot. ...
This seems like a delicate balance... any more input you can add?

All I can say is I would use that cool tube to insulate it and vent the top of the box to keep it cool. Every piece of glass the lumens move through make it weaker as well. Its to bad they dont make thicker glass bulbs. We could save atleast 10% on electric. Then you got photon return which is complicated but can cancel out lumens when light is reflected back like those side by side bulb shades.
