    purple haze ... a myth?

there are actually natrually purple strains... they can be grown in any climate, and the leaves usually wont turn purple except the stems and a little of the center.

the buds grow pure purple tho. some strains like this are Holland's hope, Purple Pineberry, Purple Kush, and the real Purple Haze

    purple haze ... a myth?

    once again

The title is sometimes confused as a drug reference, specifically to LSD. Hendrix in interviews said that the song comes from a dream Hendrix had, where he was walking under the ocean, surrounded by a Purple Haze.

    purple haze ... a myth?

I listed these in another post but figured I'd do it again.

I did some digging into the whole "Purple Haze is a myth" thing and this what I was able to piece together from reliable sources (such as the Cannabible, seed companies, a grower I know, a supplier of medical marijuana I know, Wikipedia, etc). Believe it or not, I'm not saying it's 100% correct but seems reasonable to me.

-Purple Haze is not a myth. It is an actual strain that does/did exist.

-Purple Haze was a type of acid going around in the late '60's. Most likley Jimi was singing about this. Hendrix did deny, however, that it was a reference to drugs at all. "Hendrix in interviews said that the song comes from a dream Hendrix had, where he was walking under the ocean, surrounded by a Purple Haze. A rumour credits the song to a Native American myth told to Jimi by his Cherokee grandmother. Some say the phrase "purple haze" came from a science fiction novel Hendrix was reading at the time, written by Philip Jose Farmer. Hendrix also explained at one point, that the song is just about love and not about drugs. He said that the line "what ever it is, that girl put a spell on me" is the key to the meaning of lyrics."

    - Purple Haze is not a type of Haze at all. It was just named that after the Hendix song. It certainly isn't Haze that's gone purple.

    - Purple Haze apparently wasn't that great a strain at all. This explains why it is no longer grown in large quantities

-Some strains, usually types of indicas, are naturally purple. Others will turn purple when exposed to cold temps.

    - A few of the purple strains are extremely potent indicas. Probably in the top 10-20 of all strains in terms of potency. Many purple strains, however, aren't potent at all. In other words the color isn't an indication of quality.

-You can buy Purple Haze seeds if you look hard enough. Whether or not these are the original Purple Haze strain is up for debate.

-Purple Haze is not just Haze grown in Northern California. I live in Northern California and have smoked a lot of Haze grown here. None of it was purple.

-99.5% of whatever is sold on the streets as "Purple Haze" is either some other Purple strain or a strain that has been exposed to cold temps and gone purple. DON"T PAY HIGH PRICES FOR IT SIMPLY FOR THE NAME. It's like the guy with a armful of "genuine Rolex's".

I think there's just one kind of acid. At least chemically speaking. But made by different people. Maybe "brand" would be a better term. I've had strawberry microdots, gold star, etc.

Hendrix didn't like to play "Purple Haze" and he made a parody of it called "Purple Trash". I don't think he sang it, just wrote it.
