    Yeah, soil looks like dirt, that isnt dirt. I still dont know what they are used for but that isnt soil lol.

    I have a sack of these things. Is it easy to grow in and are there any advantages to it.
    I might be tempted to give it a go.

    They are called "grow rocks", which are clay rock balls. The clay is formed into pellets and fired in rotary kilns at 1200°C. This causes the clay to expand, like popcorn, and become porous. Used in hydroponics gardening. Also known by the brand name Hydroton.

    ive been wanting to try these what are the pros and cons tho......lol i highly doubt any cons tho because i know they are like gold to a hydro grower

    hydroton is probably the best medium out there to grow in...retains moisture well, great aeration...goodluck

    the best part is...you don't need anything else...(certain hydro methods)
