There was a program a couple of weeks ago on Tv about stopping smoking. They were going to try and smoke and smoke and smoke. They would keep smoking for a couple of days. Then by the end of it they would just be so disgusted by fags that they gave up. I dont know if it worked but you could always give it a try.

ya...they have to want to quit...i hate when people force stuff on others like its the best idea(in this case it might be) espessally when people force religious beliefs!

I quit smoking, twice! But I haven't smoked a taylor made in at least a few years now. It was hard, very hard. After seeing all the money I saved though, that was more than enough motivation for me to quit. Plus, seeing your best friend lose his mother at only age 47 die of lung cancer really hit home.

My advice, have gum. Lots and lots of gum. Whever I got an urge, I just chewed gum really hard until my mind was occuppied again with something else. Or, just start cutting down on your smoking. If you smoke half a pack a day, gradually cut out a few extra ciggs. a day and in a few months, you should be smoking much less than that. Try sucking on Suckers. I hear that helps as well.

It takes A LOT of willpower to go along with this though. I mean a lot. It will be on your mind for the first few weeks, but after the first 2 weeks, things should get easier.

I don't know what to do about your dad though. Good luck.

Tell your father that a research scientist, friend of yours, told you that he's seen a lot of research, recently, that suggest if you smoke cigarettes then you should smoke weed as a natural lung expectorant.

Hey thanks for the suggestions. my dad wants to quit but he is always stressed and busy and it is a habit now. lunch break smoke, after work smoke, before bed smoke. so his body expects it at those times. sorta like not eating at lunch you feel really hugry even if you stuffed yourself at breakfast.

i suppose the only thing good that came out of this is that i will never smoke and either will my sister or brother... and ill beat the living shit out of any of my friends that smoke.

I smoked for 20 yrs before I managed to quit. It was *very* tough - it took about 6 mos before I wasnt hit by cravings. Nicotine is very addictive. Nagging smokers, showing them horrible pix, lecturing them - being self righteous (yeah you!) none of this does any good expect to piss both of you off. It usually takes a lot of work and emotional energy for a long time smoker to quit. Some can quit without much trouble but for most its a long painful slog - often several painful slogs because most ppl quit several times before it sticks. If your dad makes up his mind to do it - give him all the help you can - until then stay off his back. Sheesh, last time I looked it was about $4 a pack - so your dad is smoking like $6 a day. If you can afford weed you can afford cigs - stop sounding like the fucking church lady!

yea im sorry to be a fucking nag. i mean worrying about the fact that my dad is killing himself slowly and painfully!! how could i not just accept that! yea im sure that if your dad was on crack people would call you a church lady to try to get him off it! and i know that extreme but same princable only cracks quicker.
