space help

I am growing in a 2'x2'x4' homemade box usually a full grow for me outdoors would be around four months. but the space is diff. so what do yall think i should do. i was thinking about veging them until about 2' tall and flowering because dont they grow like twice their size when flowering. Thanks

Keep in mind the vertical space needed for the light, the space between the light and plant, and the container holding the plant.

A 4ft box cant necessarily hold a 4ft plant.

thanks joe i didnt realize that .....well im growin with a 125w compact floro. the light fixture/reflector all together is about 7" so do you think i should aim the plants to finish at around 34" or what. also when do you think that i should stop vegging and start flowering so that the space will be adequate

ok, well if the final pot is gonna sit 10 inches high, and the light needs 8 inches (7+1 so the plants arent touching the light), that leaves 30 inches for the plant. I would start flowering when the plant is 15 inches tall. You can adjust this if the pot is gonna be smaller or bigger.

Also, look into LST (low stress training - bending the plant over). I dont really know much about it but alot of people on here do it, and you can grow a plant alot bigger with the same height restrictions. I'm not sure if your box is wide enough for that, maybe someone else will post here.

wow thanks a lot that really is a lot of help.Also thanx for the LST advice...since it is bagseed i could not control sativa/indica u know. And they look like sativa to me so they will be tall and lanky so that LST will help alot.Once again thanks a lot joe

oh, and one more tip (you probably know this, but just in case...)

To keep the plant as short as possible, keep your light as CLOSE as possible. Just dont burn your plants. With CFLs, you can get very close (around an inch...) without harming the plant. This will require raising the light about every day.

Use your hand to test how close you can get. If your hand doesn't burn, your plants wont either.

this is almost the same size as my box, except mine is 5ft. tall. im using a 400w hps in a cool tube. i tried my first scrog it is currently in day 38 flowering.it looks pretty good for a small plant. with cfls you might want to think about a scrog since you dont have any penatration power.heres a pic of mine.

BUT why are you growing one bonsai plant under a 400watt HPS... using a SOG method... You technique is awesome... if you had 4-10 plants.. ahahhah

If you are going to grow just one plant you can do better just letting it BE..

cool cool so with me doing the LST and SCROG method i think i am goin to be able to grow 4-6 plants in there....do yall think i could do that many??But JOB how come u only have one pretty lady in there she has room for a couple of friends in there.Also i dont know how your setup is but i think it would help you grow a plant three times as bushy as that if you get like 5 bucks and go to HD and get chains and hooks so you can raise and lowere the light that way the plant can grow tall and fill out.I got the idea for my box out of a high times like 4-5 years ago and another thing that it showed to do is once the plants get taller put like 2 foot floros vertically in the corners to get very abundant lighting for the sides and undergrowth
