Bob Dylan introduced weed to the Beatles. Several sources claim their muse becomes more generous to them after a few tokes ...
Sativa or Indica? The buzz I've gotten from Mango hardly makes me feel "inspired"!

theres no way they would be as trippy, have the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and the yellow submarine movie without having done LSD

I believe everyone has a hidden potential, but the main thing about it is that they look for it.
I find that a good heavy sativa variety awakens me to the feel of the music. It is, of course, about the feel. And I seem to be able to jam much easier with my band as we all feel in one way.
I also find LSD helps to relax and calm you in-studio in small amounts. When recording a demo way back when, a half hit for each of us (all we had) was bringing up these 10 minute jams that sounded flawless to all of our fans the next day.
Yes, it helps. But like any tool, you have to be using it right before any work gets done.

I play in the dark whilst stoned, write really cool stuff...wake up and forget it.
Be mild with the mild, shrewd with the crafty, confiding to the honest, rough to the ruffian, and a thunderbolt to the liar. But in all this, never be unmindful of your own dignity.
