Gotta agree with ya on this one. Not to mention that these poor sensitive folks have no problem insulting us. The big difference is that we don't riot every time they burn one of our flags or an effigy of Dubya (I actually approve of this one but its the principle that counts).

It is really ridiculous the type of things that get their panties in a wad. I consider myself a minor religous guy and I have no problem with people burning the flag, burning a bible, or anything like it. People can express themselves however they choose wether I agree with it or not. Sadly, I believe that this type of situation is only going to get much worse in the near future.

Let me rephrase that.

Prophet fucking Mohammed, what is wrong with these people? In the Western world, we have a little thing called freedom of expression (or at least we're supposed to...sometimes it doesn't work the way it should). Simply put: everybody gets to say whatever the hell they want, so long as they don't threaten violence against other people. What is up with all the violence in response to a cartoon insinuating that Islam is a violent religion? Do they have no sense of irony?

The answer is that no, they don't. Most of these people live in societies where any criticism of their religion is about as taboo as having sex with your grandfather in public. If its followers' actions are anything to go by, it's clear that Islam is not a peaceful religion. We shouldn't be too surprised. It was a religion founded by a fierce warrior who conquered the entire Arabian Peninsula by the sword. And I see no reason why we should not openly mock it for that. It is in my opinion no worse than mocking Nazism or Stalinism for their violent natures.

This is what results from absolutism. Our belief is absolutely right and we absolutely believe it and you must absolutely respect it. It's also known as blind unquestioning faith akin to the followers of David Koresh, Jim Jones and of course, the strict islamofascists. Oh yeah, and Dubya and the Pat Robertsons and Jerry Fallwells and Popesters, and Fred Phelps's of the world. There is no arguing or reasoning with them (see Fengzi's near-brilliant sig) all one can do is leave them alone. (and keep at least one eye and a couple ICBM's on them at all times) That means no trade, no dirty deals, no buying their oil or selling them arms, and no $70million for Dubya to "assist" the Iranians little underground movement. Let them figure it out for themselves by themselves.
