They're over 2 weeks old now, how old do peppers need to be before their first food? The soil I have them in has absolutely no nutrients. I fed like a 1/8th strength dose, just to be safe, and I noticed the leaves are a little darker green, were kinda light yellowish (almost) green. I always read that for cannabis, its ferts after 2 weeks, with peppers should you wait longer?

well 1st of all cannabis is not...nutrients after 2 weeks...You wait until there are 4-5 alternating nodes and the seedlings are well rooted. Alot of people get confusedwith the difference between how you feed young seedlings, and cloines...clones take on the age of the mother...so as soon as they root, you nute...good luck, just be careful. if color keeps coming back, then water tw/water, and add 50% solution next week. In between nutrients evry 7-10 days use ph water @6.5ph

If you feel that your 1/8 solution brightened them up, then that is OK.

Thanks for all the input latewood. I was wondering if you knew what might cause pepper leaves to curl? Mine had been curling downward slightly before I fed them, but they still look healthy. At least its not an upward curl, which means either light or nute burn i believe. I'll post better pics when i can.

I think you will find that seedlings tend to have a little curling now and again. remember they only have a small rootzone at this age; So a mionor thing can cause them to be off. I wouldn't worry untill they get bigger..unless you see a worsening problem with new foliage. peace

lack of light migfht be part of your problem...I apologize, I didn't realize you were using such low wattage...

I am curious to see if that light can grow edible peppers...later.

thanks dutch.lover. We subsisted off of veggies and peppers we grew almost this entire year, and It didn't take a ton of effort. I am getting ready for a big winbter nursery experiment. If all goes as planned, I will have 10-12 varities of veggies both vegatative plants and fruiting plants...should be fun

That's just for seedling stage. I'm getting a 4 tube 48" t8 fixture when they're bigger, and side lighting with 42 watt CFLs. But the purple ones don't need as much light as a normal pepper, and work good as a house plant according to the bag. Also, I'm LST'ing them so I get the most out of my CFL, I'll take pics when i get batteries.
