Doom 3
what card are you planning to buy? keep in mind that doom3 was programmed for nvidia compatibility, ATI cards will have a tougher time running the game (without the fix, which may or may not be legal, I have no idea)
your PC should be able to run it just fine as-is, if you don't mind low resoloution and an FPS of about 20...
and yes, the game is DARK, it scared the living shit out of me...very well done, since you can't use the flashlight and shoot at the same time. without the flashlight, all you see is blurry shadows moving towards you...and oh god, the screams and moans...
ABSOLOUTELY DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME WITHOUT A GOOD SOUND SYSTEM. I cannot stress this enough. at the very least, have some good quality stereo headphones...if you can, hook it into a 5.1 surround system. its worth the money you'll be spending on new pants once you shit yourself.
btw, I was playing it at work on a P4 1.7ghz, 256mb SDRAM with Radeon 9200SE Pro, and it was running smoothly (windowed so I don't get booked for gaming instead of working).DrGonzo Reviewed by DrGonzo on .
